[challenge] Day 16 - Nowaki/Hiroki

Day 16 - If we assume ghosts are real, what type of ghost would you like to see?

Kusama Nowaki/Kamijou Hiroki (Junjou Egoist) → ficlet || au, character death, drama, romance, supernatural, pg-13

Nowaki had always been able to see .... things. Things that weren't known to be real, things that only appeared in books and movies. But Nowaki could see them. Those forlorn souls wandering through the human world in search of something they still had to finish. A business they had forgotten about in the wake of their death. Yes, Nowaki was able to see ghosts.
They had been with him in his childhood and had accompanied him throughout his teenager years. He was still a youth, barely 18 years of age and his only true friends had been the ghosts coming to him for help they did not know they were seeking. His classmates thought of him as strange and cold and reserved. Mostly because the dark haired did not speak with them at all. He was a loner, and despite his parents being worried about his reserved personality, he was a lively lad.
Recently though, there always lay a handsome smile on Nowaki's lips. More than once his parents and the people around had asked what made him so happy, but it was not something he outright spoke freely about if he did not want to be labelled loony. Which he without doubt was not. It was not his fault that he was the only one being able to see ghosts and interact with them as if they were still alive.
The source of his recent happiness happened to be a grumpy young man who had died young in a car accident. Hiroki was his name, and Nowaki found it a hard task to get the other to speak to him. He was sure Hiroki had registered that his mortal life had ended, but the lad refused to seek his unfinished business.
“Hiro-san,” Nowaki called out softly when he entered the privacy of his room. He knew the other was there, hiding in hopes that Nowaki would return. Hiroki was a unique ghost. Different from the ones visiting Nowaki occasionally, Hiroki had wished to stay. He did not want to feel lonely were the first words ever he had spoken to him. Back then, when they first had met, Hiroki had been reserved and silent. Now he was still reserved, but grumpy and frowned one too many times when Nowaki blatantly flirted with him. Nowaki knew it was odd and not supposed to feel this real, but it was just that. Real. He held true emotions for the shorter male he only knew the ghost of.
“You're late,” came a grumpy huff and Nowaki's face lit with a smile when he caught sight of Hiroki's slightly transparent figure emerging from a dark corner in Nowaki's room near his closet. A frown looking close to a pout and furrowed eyebrows were directed at him and Nowaki chuckled softly.
“Sorry for that,” Nowaki replied and with a wide grin he stepped closer to the shorter ghost. “Did you miss me?” he asked cheekily and marvelled in the blush that crossed Hiroki's quite transparent cheeks.
“I-idiot!” Hiroki exclaimed and flushed a little more when he whispered almost inaudibly, “Of course I did.”
